The online PAN application (Protean/NSDL and UTIITSL) asks for a scanned photo and signature at a fixed size, 300 dpi and a small file size. The resizer below is already set for the PAN photo: add your picture, drag the box over your face and save.

How to do it

  1. Take a photo against a plain white wall, looking straight at the camera.
  2. Add it to the resizer at the top of this page.
  3. Drag the box so your face and the top of your shoulders fill it, then press Save photo.
  4. For the signature, sign in black ink on white paper, take a photo, and pick “PAN card signature” in “Made for”.
  5. Tick “Clean signature” to make the paper pure white and the ink darker.

Questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The resizer runs in your browser, so the picture stays on your phone or computer.

The portal says a different size. What do I do?

Check the latest instructions on the PAN portal, then change the width, height and KB numbers in the tool. Everything stays editable.

Can I upload a PDF instead?

Some PAN forms take the documents as one PDF. Turn your photos into a PDF with JPG to PDF, then use Compress PDF to Exact Size.
